Dynamic Media Alerts had the privilege to engage with Young Scissors Football Development, a football team headquartered in the Newcastle rural area of Osizweni. This dedicated team, founded in 2019, intends to provide young players with a platform to develop their skills and pursue their passion for the football. In the interview, the management informed the DMA about the team's background, current success, community engagement and all the challenges they encounter in the organisation,
The
team is currently not affiliated by any sponsor; however, they are eager to
find sponsors to become part of their family. The team is financially dependent
on the management, parents, and investments they make in tournaments and knockout
games. Young Scissors Football Development hopes to play in the Motsepe League
and the KwaZulu-Natal League. They have complete faith in their boys' talents
to guide them to success and in their ability to work together.
Recent
matches for Young Scissors Football Development have been difficult, but they
have made notable progress. Notably, they won a new kit for U/15, while U/11 lost
in semi-finals and U/13 lost the final in division of the prestigious Osizweni
Inhlonipho Football Tournament. Given their limited resources and the lack of a
suitable venue for games and practice, the team has performed admirably
overall. Despite these obstacles, they are committed to maintaining the level
of fitness of their players.
Young
Scissors Football Development would have the chance to improve their
development efforts by receiving recognition for their dedication. With more
exposure, they will have easy access to resources that are essential to the
development of the team. The team's stakeholders, including the players, the
management, the parents, the teachers, and the community, would be further
encouraged to support the talents of their children. The development and
performance of the team would benefit from this acknowledgement.
The
management of the club take an active interest in the community to guarantee
its inclusiveness in the group. They have been effective in identifying and
developing talented athletes by working closely with parents and schools. Young
Scissors Football Development has gotten exceptional community support despite
being based in a remote region.
Young
Scissors Football Development places a high premium on making sure that all
players are taken care of. The team needs contributions of at least R10 from
parents to fund costs such as travelling to soccer games. However, access to
transport is still a major issue, necessitating many long walks to
early-morning games, depriving the athletes of appropriate sleep. The team
urgently needs assistance with refreshments, transportation, soccer kit (there
are only two jerseys for each division), soccer balls (some of which are not
durable), training tools and soccer boots (since some players cannot afford
them). Future support and opportunities are eagerly anticipated by the team.
In
conclusion, Young Scissors Football Development exemplifies the tenacity and
perseverance of a group dedicated to developing football potential in remote
Newcastle. They have had great success despite several obstacles. They worked
very hard and were very committed, as evidenced by their U/15 division victory
in the Osizweni Inhlonipho Soccer Tournament. DMA wishes all the best to the team under the management of Celimpilo Ndebele (The manager and the founder of YSFT), Mr Mbatha (Assistant coach), Lucky Bakane (COO) and the Parents representative Mr Xulu.
